About the role

The successful applicant will join the proactive and passionate Environmental Services team and will manage a range of floodplain management and stormwater quality projects across the region.

This is a permanent full-time role working 35 hours per week based at the Nowra Administration Building.

The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.


Reporting directly to the Senior Floodplain Engineer, the focus of this position is to:

Provide project management and technical engineering expertise to:

  • The Floodplain Management Program; and
  • The Urban Stormwater Management Plan.
  • Manage grant funding applications and provide financial information to the long-term Strategic Floodplain Management Program, Council budget submissions and Management Planning process.
  • Prepare briefs for and engage consultants as required for technical studies and investigation works for flooding and stormwater quality.
  • Provide technical advice on development applications and major projects in relation to flooding and stormwater quality issues.
  • Project administration and management of flood mitigation and stormwater quality projects.

Skills & Experience

In order to be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:

  • Civil/Environmental Engineering Degree or equivalent.
  • Eligibility for Chartered Professional Engineering status with the Institution of Engineers Australia.
  • Minimum 5 years professional experience in floodplain management and stormwater quality.
  • Class C Driver’s Licence.
