About the role

Council has an exciting and rare opportunity available for a motivated and enthusiastic applicant interested in pursuing a career in Development Engineering.

The position provides a rare opportunity to gain valuable industry experience, whilst providing the flexibility to study (up to 1 day per week).

This position works 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday (8:00am to 4:00pm) at the Nowra Administration Building.


Reporting directly to the Development Engineering Coordinator, the focus of this position is to:

  • To assist in the delivery of development engineering advice (including subdivision).
  • Ensure work area’s compliant with relevant legislation and Council policies.
  • To undertake assessment and inspections (under supervision) concerning development matters (including subdivision).
  • To undertake projects if and as required and directed (under supervision).

Skills & Experience

  • In order to be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:
  • Undergraduate Engineer – completion of at least 1 year of study, working towards a Bachelor of Civil and/or Environmental Engineering.
  • Class C Driver’s Licence
  • Ability to foster teamwork within and between teams to deliver services.
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting and development others to achieve work goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage self and assist the team to meet scheduled work to a high standard and to respond to a range of conflicting demands.
  • Communicating verbal and written information clearly, adapting style to the needs of the audience
