About the role

This is a permanent, full-time position (35 hours per week) Monday to Friday located at the Nowra Administration Building. 


The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.




Reporting directly to the Manager – People and Culture, the focus of this position is to:


  • Manage the ongoing development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Council’s WHS Management System to achieve the safety outcomes of the organisation and ensure ongoing alignment with legislative requirements.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to support a positive safety culture focused on improving the wellbeing of the organsation and reducing injury and incidents.

  • Safety Team to manage


Skills & Experience


In order to be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:


  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources or Work, Health & Safety and or extensive demonstrated experience in Work, Health & Safety
  • Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration and information exchange within and across work groups in the delivery of outcomes for the community.
  • Proven success in translating business strategy into operational goals and activities and fostering a shared understanding of how these contribute to higher level objectives.
  • Demonstrated people management skills with the ability to lead, manage and motivate teams and actively seeking solutions for workplace improvement.
  • Proven success in using negotiation and communication skills to engage with a range of stakeholders in developing solutions for business success.
  • Capacity to effectively manage the diverse operations of a work group to ensure the provision of timely and quality outputs for customers and the community.
