Development Planner

Council is seeking a suitably qualified applicant to join our Development Services Group, in the role of Development Planner.

About the role 

This is a full- time permanent position, Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm located in Nowra Administration Building. 

The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.

A Leaseback Vehicle is available for this position.

Duties

Reporting directly to the Senior Development Planner, the focus of this position is to:

Provide for the protection, promotion and improvement of the natural and built environment and public amenity and safety by:

  • Providing professional advice, education and guidance;
  • Administering and enforcing the Acts and Regulations under various legislation and Council policies;
  • Working cooperatively with other Council Groups, the whole community and state agencies to achieve improved land-use management, high quality built and natural environments and public amenity;
  • Coordinating, managing, assessing and processing development applications which range up to and contain elements of high complexity and value;
  • in order to ensure achievement of the objectives of the Community Strategic Plan and customer service levels that will ensure the wellbeing of the whole community.

Skills & Experience

In order to be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, Urban and Regional Planning or a related field
  • Current Class C Driver’s Licence
  • NSW WorkCover Construction Induction Certificate (white card)
  • Up to four (4) years’ experience in local government in the operation and management of the development assessment and control processes.
