Leading Hand Plant Operator

Shoalhaven City Council is seeking an experienced Leading Hand Plant Operator to join our Works and Services Department.

About the role

This is a full-time permanent role, Monday to Friday 38 hours per week. Located in Woollamia – Works Depot.


Reporting directly to the Team Supervisor- Maintenance, the focus of this position is to:

  • To operate plant or light truck for the maintenance and/or minor construction of the road network and/or buildings as directed by the Supervisor and/or Ganger whilst providing quality workmanship.
  • Support and supervise staff in the day to day operations of the Construction and Maintenance Unit
  • Ensure the work area’s compliance with relevant legislation and Council policies and ensure that risks are managed.

Skills & Experience

In order to be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:

  • School Certificate or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in operating minor and major plant and/or light trucks.
  • Demonstrated experience in civil construction and/or maintenance activities
  • Class MR Licence
  • Current National WHS Construction Card (WorkCover)
