Industrial Electrical Technician

Council is seeking two qualified Industrial Electrical Technician to join Electrical Team within the Shoalhaven Water Utility.

About the role

These positions are permanent position, 38 hours a week Monday to Friday with a 9-day fortnight roster. Located in Bomaderry.


Reporting directly to the Coordinator – Electrical North or South, the focus of this position is to:

  • To provide quality, timely and efficient electrical installation, maintenance and breakdown services.
  • Assist to ensure the work area’s compliance with relevant legislation and Council policies and ensure that risks are managed.

Skills & Experience

This position allows for grade progression from Grade 6 to Grade 8 subject to attainment of qualifications and accomplishment of established competencies, increased responsibilities and complexity of tasks being realized.

Essential Qualifications, Licenses and Experience

Grade 6 Electrician Trade Qualification
Electrical Supervisors License
Post trade experience in related field
Practical experience (including training) in the Electrical field with proven competence in commercial and industrial installation, maintenance and breakdown services.
Grade 7 Electrician Trade Qualification
Electrical Supervisors License
Post trade experience in related field or demonstrated competency to equivalent level
Practical experience (including training) in the Electrical trade with proven competence in Industrial Electrical control systems.
Grade 8 Electrician Trade Qualification
Electrical Supervisors License
Certificate IV in Electrical Instrumentation or equivalent post trade training in a specialist field or demonstrated competency to equivalent level.
Practical experience (including training) with proven competence in PLC and SCADA Controls, PLC program changes, fault diagnosis, Complex motor and drive control systems. Proven competence of telemetry systems and instrumentation.
  • Current Class C Driver’s License
  • WorkCover Construction Induction Card
  • Participate in afterhours callout, on call roster system and work a reasonable amount of overtime.
  • Ability to obtain Confined Spaces Certificate and Chlorine Handling Awareness work
  • in both areas.
  • Must be able to work at heights on poles and towers and in Elevated Work Platforms.
  • Ability to obtain a high Voltage access permit issuers qualification.
