About the role
This is a 24-month, fixed term, full-time position working 35 hours (Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm) and will be based at Nowra Administration Building.

The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.

Reporting directly to the Lead – Floodplain Management, the focus of this position is to:

  • Provide project management and technical expertise for the delivery of the Shoalhaven Flood Preparation and Emergency Response to Community Resilience project funded by a grant under the Preparing Australian Communities - Local Stream Program. This grant funded project includes the following specific flood risk management projects:
  • Lower Shoalhaven River & St Georges Basin flood evacuation capability assessment and planning investigation;
  • Scoping study for ICOLL catchment flash flood warning system covering Lake Conjola, Burrill Lake and Lake Tabourie;
  • Clyde River Flood Study and Floodplain Risk Management Study & Plan; and
  • Willinga Lake Flood Study and Floodplain Risk Management Study & Plan

Skills & Experience
In order to be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:

  • Civil/Environmental Engineering Degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years professional experience in floodplain management investigations.
  • Ability to consult, share information and work collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of Flood Studies, Floodplain Risk Management Studies, Floodplain Risk Management Plans and Emergency Management.
  • Class C Driver’s Licence.
  • Proof of right to work in Australia
