About the roles
There are 2x permanent, full-time, Monday to Friday 8.00 am to 4.00 pm positions working 35 hours per week. These positions are located at the Bomaderry Works Depot

Council is seeking two Asset Engineering Officers to join the Roads Asset Team to manage the broad portfolio we manage. One role will have a focus on the Rural roads portfolio which encapsulates the Rural Road network and associated infrastructure including but not limited to Rural sealed and unsealed roads, Fire Trails, open drains, Shared User Path (SUP) network and associated Heavy Vehicle permits.

The second role is aligned to Coastal, Estuary and Natural Area built assets including but not limited to Waterways infrastructure i.e., boat ramps and jetties, Navigation canals, Foreshore protection and Flood Mitigation infrastructure.

The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.

Duties
Reporting directly to the Roads Asset Manager, the focus of this position is to:

  • Prepare Project Briefs for implementation of relevant capital works and ensure timely and cost-effective implementation. 
  • Prepare traffic / transport recommendations for development applications as required with regard to consent conditions. 
  • Identify current and future transport infrastructure needs within the City for the short, medium, and long term. 
  • Undertake traffic and transportation investigations, modelling, analysis, design and timely technical advice as directed by the Manager Roads Assets. 
  • Undertake crash investigation, prepare black spot submissions, and manage black spot project delivery as directed by the Manager Roads Assets. 
  • Ensure high quality and timely technical and other advice to the public, private developers, government authorities and internal staff 
  • Works with HPE Content manager, One Council and other Council systems. 
  • Prepare monthly reports to the Manager Roads Assets as required  

Skills & Experience
To be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:

  • Class C Driver’s License 
  • Demonstrated experience in investigation and development of concept designs and cost estimates. 
  • Ability to develop strategies and forward works programs for civil works (preferably traffic & transport facilities) 
  • Ability to monitor and manage minor works as directed.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with multi-disciplined teams and/or working parties.
  • Demonstrated effective time management and prioritization skills with the ability to balance competing workloads and deliver within deadlines.
  • Proven experience of professional involvement in traffic/transport planning, traffic engineering development assessment and/or engineering design (roads, car parks, traffic facilities) in the context of applying these to government projects and private developments 
  • Proven experience in preparing consultant’s briefs and managing consultant’s projects in a timely, professional, and cost-effective manner.
  • Proof of Australian residency or citizenship

Grade 11

  • Diploma of Engineering or related discipline and relevant experience and/or working towards completion of these qualifications.
  • Eligibility for Graduate Membership to the Institute of Engineers, Australia

Grade 12

  • 4-year degree in an engineering (preferably Civil Engineering) / or Planning Discipline
  • Eligibility for Membership of the Institute of Engineers, Australia
  • Relevant engineering experience.

This is a grade range position, therefore in accordance with qualifications, accreditation, experience and demonstrated skills, the prospective employee will be assessed as either Grade 11 or 12.

Grade 11 – Salary: $93,592 - $106,297 p.a. plus 11% Super

Grade 12 – Salary: $99,364 - $113,228 p.a. plus 11% Super
