Duties Reporting directly to the Lead – Community Capacity Building, the focus of this position is to:
Grade 8
Supporting team members, to design, deliver and evaluate capacity building programs in collaboration with community stakeholders.
Supporting team members to build effective relationships and partnerships with community stakeholders and internal stakeholders.
Supporting team members to apply for external grant funding and deliver grant funded projects.
Representing Council on a number of networks and inter-agencies.
Contributing to the Community Capacity Building team’s actions under Council’s Community Strategic Plan, Disability Inclusion Action Plan, Community Wellbeing Strategy and other projects.
Grade 9
With supervision and/or in collaboration with other team members support Council’s Section 355 Committees, e.g. Youth Advisory Committee, Homelessness Advisory Committee, Aboriginal Advisory Committee and the Inclusion and Access Advisory Committee.
With supervision and/or in collaboration with other team members, to design, deliver and evaluate capacity building programs in collaboration with community stakeholders.
Building effective relationships and partnerships with community stakeholders and internal stakeholders.
With supervision and/or in collaboration with other team members, support applying for external grant funding and deliver grant funded projects.
Grade 10 Workplan may include:
Assist in the facilitation of Council’s Section 355 Committees e.g. the Youth Advisory Committee, Homelessness Advisory Committee, Aboriginal Advisory Committee and Inclusion and Access Advisory Committee. Project management of capacity building programs and initiatives in collaboration with community stakeholders.
Planning and delivery of community events that align with agreed KPIs
Supporting team and mentoring junior team members.
Writing reports including but not limited to Council reports and reports for internal stakeholders, external funding partners and government agencies.
Leading and Facilitating Meetings with internal and external stakeholders

Skills & Experience This is a grade range position, therefore in accordance with qualifications, accreditation, experience and demonstrated skills, the prospective employee will be assessed as either Grade 8, 9, or 10.
To be successful in the position, you will possess:
Grade 8:
Certificate IV in one of the following disciplines: Community Development, Social Science, Social Work, Social Planning, or other related fields, and/or demonstrated work and study experience meeting equivalent performance indicators of this Grade.
Understanding of community wellbeing needs and some experience working (including voluntary) to enhance the lives of the community through community capacity building and/or community development programs and/or activities.
Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with a range of stakeholder groups including Local Government, State and Federal Government Agencies, community service providers and community groups to produce initiatives that benefit community.
Proof of Australian residency or citizenship
Current Class C Driver's License
Grade 9:
Diploma in one of the following disciplines: Community Development, Social Science, Social Work, Social Planning, or other related fields, and/or demonstrated work and study experience meeting equivalent performance indicators of this Grade.
Demonstrated experience in designing, delivering and evaluating a range of Community Capacity Building programs or initiatives that meet identified community social outcomes.
Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with a range of stakeholder groups including Local Government, State and Federal Government Agencies, community service providers and community groups to produce initiatives that benefit community.
Demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
Proof of Australian residency or citizenship
Current Class C Driver's License
Grade 10:
Tertiary Qualification in one of the following disciplines: Community Development, Social Science, Social Work, Social Planning, or other related fields, and/or equivalent combined with relevant extensive work experience in these fields.
Extensive experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating a range of Community Capacity Building programs or initiatives that meet identified community social outcomes.
Extensive experience working collaboratively with a range of stakeholder groups including all levels of government, community service providers and community groups to produce initiatives that benefit community.
Demonstrated experience and adept in often complex, group facilitation and conflict management processes to achieve desired outcomes.
Proof of Australian residency or citizenship
Current Class C Driver's License

Grade 8 – Salary: $74,079 - $83,267 p.a. plus 11.5% Super
Grade 9 – Salary: $80,125 - $93,275 p.a. plus 11.5% Super
Grade 10 – Salary: $88,494 - $101,649 p.a. plus 11.5% Super
