Major Plant Operator

About the role
This is a permanent, full-time, Monday to Friday 7.00 am to 4.00 pm position working 38 hours per week. This position is located at the Ulladulla Works Depot.

Duties
Reporting directly to the Team Supervisor – Southern Maintenance, the focus of this position is to:

  • Operate and maintain plant items, such as, excavators, garbage compactors, graders, backhoes, front end loaders, tractors, reach mower tractors, dozers, compactors, water tankers, street sweepers, rollers, heavy and light rigid trucks, wing mowers, forklifts, hydraulic gang mowers, herbicide sprayers, ride-on mowers, heavy duty chippers etc.
  • Operate and maintain hand tools and machines, such as, mowers, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, pumps, brush-cutters, herbicide spraying equipment, vegetation trimmers, plate compactors, jack picks, concrete saws, electric power tools etc.
  • Operate and maintain trucks up to and including those requiring an HR class driver’s licence.
  • Undertake manual tasks such as shovelling, screeding, maintenance works, landscaping installation, raking, digging, and lifting, mowing operations, tree pruning, park maintenance, irrigation systems maintenance and installation with ability to work on above-ground platforms and ladders, fencing and traffic control for various parks works.
  • Complete standard paperwork such as timesheets & risk assessments, both written and electronically.

On call – Being available to be on-call and complete reasonable overtime is a requirement of this position.

Skills & ExperienceTo be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:

  • School Certificate or equivalent
  • Mminimum of two (2) years’ experience in operating major plant such as backhoe, dozer / compactor, excavator, front end loader, tractor, grader, street sweeper, water tanker, garbage compactor or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in civil construction and/or maintenance activities.
  • Current RMS Issued Traffic Control or SafeWork NSW Traffic Control Work Training Cards – ‘Traffic controller’ and ‘Implement traffic control plans or willingness to obtain
  • Current National WHS Construction Card (WorkCover)
  • Class HR Licence
  • Proof of Australian residency or citizenship, or authority to work in Australia (visa)
