Senior Water and Sewer Portfolio Planning Engineer

About the role
This is a permanent, full-time, Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 5.00 pm position working 35 hours per week. This position is located at the Shoalhaven Water Operations Depot, South Nowra.

The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.

Duties
Reporting directly to the Assets & Portfolio Manager, the focus of this position is to:

  • Support the Asset & Portfolio team to deliver robust, dynamic, disciplined, and integrated project portfolio management (PPM) processes & asset management practices to ensure efficient and effective water and wastewater services for the Shoalhaven Community
  • Collaborate with other Units and Sections within Shoalhaven Water and other Groups within Council to obtain the latest data to be utilised for sustainable project, program, and capital portfolio planning.
  • Assist with the identification and management of risks associated with the Shoalhaven Water Capital Works Portfolio.
  • Execute the processes for project verification, prioritisation and scenario evaluation.
  • Develop and maintain/update Shoalhaven Water’s Water Supply and Sewerage Strategies.
  • Contribute to the regular revision of Shoalhaven Water’s Development Servicing Plans for Water and Sewerage.
  • Develop, maintain, and calibrate Shoalhaven Water’s Water and Sewerage hydraulic models using Infoworks software.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed project cost estimates for planning and budgeting
  • Engage and manage external consultants in the delivery of strategic projects and initiatives

Skills & Experience
To be successful in the position, you will be / possess:

  • Degree qualifications in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering qualification
  • Qualifications and experience in Project Management or Asset Management, preferably with relevant experience in the water industry.
  • Demonstrated verbal communication skills to the extent necessary to liaise with and provide advice / service to customers, contractors, consultants, and senior officers. 
  • Demonstrated written communication skills to the extent necessary to prepare correspondence, reports, and project documents.
  • Demonstrated success in guiding and coaching others, promoting continuous learning, and actively seeking solutions for workplace improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate a broad range of information sources to develop a “big picture” understanding while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Class C Driver’s Licence
  • Proof of Australian residency or citizenship

The advertised salary includes a rate of up to $150 per week for an outstanding candidate.
