Administration Assistant

Shoalhaven Council is seeking an Administration Assistant to join our Works and Services Department.

About the role

This is a full-time fixed term (6 months) position, Monday to Friday 35 hours per week located in Bomaderry.


Reporting directly to the Road Assets Manager, the focus of this position is to:

  • To effectively assist in the administration of the Assets Team and to provide efficient customer service to the general public and internal customers.
  • To provide administrative support to Assets Team staff to meet the requirements of Council’s Assets Team.
  • To provide administrative/clerical support primarily in the Works & Services Section of the City Services Group.
  • To act as first point of contact for internal and external personnel and initiate appropriate action to support the Assets Team customer service goals.

Skills & Experience

  • Secretarial or Office Administration qualifications, School Certificate or equivalent and/or at least 3 years relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated effective time management and prioritisation skills with the ability to balance competing workloads and deliver within deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high level Administration Support.
  • Demonstrated ability to use MS Word general correspondence, MS Excel to enter data and MS Outlook to manage electronic diaries, e-mails etc verifiable with a skills test administered by Council.
  • Sound problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised.
  • Ability to deal with information confidentially.
  • Class C Driver’s Licence.
